Its pretty quiet and it works for us the only reason i gave 4 stars is because amazon recommends a remote that is suppose to be compatible with it but it wasnt

A portion of the remote should go into the very small part of the fan where fan meets ceiling it didnt fit

The light comes with two frosted small base 60w incandescent bulbs but if the light is used a lot led bulbs could be substituted to save on electricity in the long run and to avoid having to change burned out bulbs periodically
