This lid screws into threading inside the growler whereas the other style has threading on the outside of the bottle.

They replied quickly to my email and after doing what they needed they sent me a whole new growler and since my stuck one was full of beer told me to keep it

One important note is that this new model growler identifiable by the handle coming out towards the side around the neck is not compatible with the existing hydroflask straw and other lids
