Totally my fault - when i ordered, i only saw the first photo and a description, and the "tumbler" part just didn't register with me.
The packaging says it only fits 28oz and 20 oz tumblers, but the hydroflask website says the medium boot will fit 40oz.

Sides are snug so water doesnt seem to get under them

The flask looks better with out it but in all reality it is necessary to protect the cup and overall have it last much longer for you
