Highly recommended,coming from a beginner hydroponics fan. Needed a basic ebb and flo system. Design is nearing perfection for how it's used.

The plants that grew fast are sili peppers from the philippines. Chile plants are fairly large, so i can't use all 15 pots at once. Since this is in our kitchen, we have it planted with culinary herbs. Herb plants from the philippines.

The pump pumps the water from the bottom tray up to the top tray, wetting and feeding the plant roots. It's important that your seedlings have developed roots to about two inches length so the nutrient water reaches the roots and will wick up.

Cons

Do not buy this piece of junk. The assembly instructions are very poor. Hydrofarm has no product support they say to contact the seller. Amazon has a great product return/refund/exchange policy.

The plastic gasket around the water inlet is totally disintegrated and totally useless.

Saw a review that they had trouble with the level indicator leaking.

I initially decided during my first run with the unit that using the included square pots and hydroton media gave me sub-par results.

What i really want is a high quality 2x2 tray and reservoir with nothing pre-drilled.

Competitiveness

So i ditched the pots, repurposed the hydroton for my terrariums, and began using 4-inch rockwool cubes.

I would've given a higher rating otherwise.
