Some are references but in many cases there is further information that adds to the topic information that is even more fascinating and wouldnt be out of place in the main body of the text

It turns out that id heard a great ted talk by ed yong about parasites but i did not realize this till the end as id forgotten the name of the speaker and hasnt seen a picture of the author
