Pros & Cons
Pros
The gsr100ex bass is a great value, a great player and if you're not looking for perfection, it may be as good as it gets. It’s a passive bass (no batteries required) and full scale! Perfect for laying down some bass tracks on my tascam *-006.
The single music man-style pickup sounds pretty good, the neck is fast and slim. Plenty of tones available through my sans amp, plays like a dream, and quiet as a mouse when you are plugged in but not playing.
One negative is that the fretwork isn't great, although not in ways that affect me. Frets are free from sharp edges and overhangs. Raising the bridge slightly or adjusting the truss rod will eliminate any buzzing.
Beautiful oil wood grain. I like that it isn't glossy. The beautiful finish is an added bonus.
Highlights
Quality
All chrome hardware (bridge, volume nobs, machine head tuners and strap holders) is sturdy and workable.
The tuners are great and hold tune perfectly.
I've been jamming on this bass now for a few weeks and no issues at all.
Minimal adjustments needed, just like any guitar or bass due to humidity and heat changes during shipping.
Price
For $200 this is a great bass from ibanez.
Still definitely worth it considering it was under $200.
Other than that, for the price, i'm more than satisfied!
Did i mention that it's great for $200.
Shipping
It was qa inspected and setup prior to shipping as well with the tag to prove it.
Packaging/appearance
To my surprise, nothing was damaged in delivery and the packaging was fantastic!
Competitiveness
The fit, finish, and playability is great and better than any other mid level ibanez i've owned (sr300, sr370, sr405, and sr650).
You can definitely hear them the lower notes are just a little overpowering in comparison.
