I am not sure why it doesnt work without the charging cable plugged in but that is really a nonissue for me it can be plugged in

I drive pretty rural back roads to work everyday my radio always has a bad connection

I plugged it into my car then connected my ipod to it realizing my radio was on a local station and couldnt be used for broadcasting my ipod music i quickly reached up and changed the station

I will tell you that one morning i tried to listen to my local talk radio station and it was mostly static after unplugging my iclever the radio station came through fine
