This device works great for both purposes.
Great, fast adapter, works perfectly, but very overpriced in my opinion.
Product works exactly how you would think it would work.
Competitiveness
Included power supply has plenty enough oomph to drive a full-sized blueray burner without issues.
I needed something that would take files of a harddrives without having to plug it in a computer and this worked perfect.
I paired it with a 2tb wd red wd20efrx replaced from a synology nas.
I have a 600gb drive connected that this time.

Plugged into usb sport no need to connect power and was quickly able to copy files from hard drive of dead laptop had to remove hd from dead laptop of course
