Once you are ready to take the lid apart to clean it i find myself using a butter knife to pry this part out because it is in an awkward place that you can barely fit your fingers on the side and have to push it to the back to lift it off

Sometimes after a long day i just dont have the strength to pull it off so i use a butter knife to pry it off in hopes i never break it
