Best dual core processor for lga 775 socket
This rig is at the end of its life, just trying to stretch it for another year before upgrading to a 4k htpc.
Works good for basic word/excel, but not for video/games.

Picked up used for less than 15 bucks.
Very affordable if purchased used - 5 star.
Packaging/appearance
Very nicely packed in a plastic fitted case and even came with heat transfer paste
Competitiveness
Also, i probably would have went with a core 2 quad but was not sure about compatibility with the chipset i had (g41 express).
The e-8600 is part of the last iteration of c2d processors before the core i type of processors were launched.
