Steps for the g530 (try to keep yourself 'grounded' to reduce static electricity):* update the bios to the latest (from the lenovo website)* power off and unplugged, take the 2 screws off the large panel* remove the 4 screws on the cpu's heat sink, and carefully remove heat sink - clean old heat sink compound (white) from heat sink* turn screw on cpu socket (until it reaches its stop) to release old cpu - note which corner of the cpu has the arrow, and lift it out (will be very easy to lift)* put new processor in (keeping orientation the same - there is an arrow in one corner of the cpu - should be in same direction as original), and tighten screw until it hits its stop.  Read Less
