Pros & Cons
Pros
I have been impressed with the ring product line for years. The sensitivity is adjustable but the default is excellent. The battery life seems really good.
This battery powered spotlight does what it is supposed to, it does it well. The light uses d cell batteries which last long time. This spotlight puts out a focused (somewhat small) beam of good light!
Cons
The frequency of battery change is a huge problem. Changing batteries on a ladder is cumbersome. These things work okay once you get them connected, but i swear i spent at least two hours setting one up. Not to mention taking out the batteries and fac... Read More
The light is bulky and heavy for the 400 lumen light output. I have a little led flashlight that take three aaa batteries that is way brighter than this spot light. Solar is out.
Ring flood cam doesn't detects the side of the vehicle when they sneak up from the far side driveway. It shines when motion is detected, but it never fully illuminates. I have the daylight detection turn all the way down (minimally light should stop) ... Read More
The smart lights link to the app and phone of the primary user only. Shared users do not. Receive a notification. And don’t try contacting ring.
Highlights
Quality
Good light beam and motion detection is good quality.
Because without that connector to link the spotlights to your wifi its worthless and you can't use the product.
With the lights turning themselves on when motion is detected they were coming on a lot, like every 5 minutes on a windy day.
Establishing connectivity with the ring bridge was a challenge.
Competitiveness
Oh, and he even credited my account for the cost of the fusion rayovac batteries.
Wish ring had products with more lumens and 5000k color temp or higher, but it's okay.
