Pros

The ion audio archive is a fantastic value for the money. She says it is very beauiful. It even handles some pretty rad scratches pretty well. If you can keep out the dust for <23 min per side, you're golden.

I love this unit because it's a standalone player with its own amp and speakers, no separate amp required. Speakers are adequate for the job and much appreciated in my setup, where i'm actually just looking to archive these to my laptop.

Clear vinyl is thick as *, it's 88 grain i believe. It even plays right through places where the needle it came with would skip. Plays 78's which my mother has boxes just sitting around, it plays as expected and sounds great.

Cons

Price is right but it is not a performer. Based on those criteria this thing is definitely no bargain. Not satisfied at all.

Ez audio converter software is faulty. The louder you play it the worse it sounds.

Tech support was stumped. Empty cache, run disk utility and reboot (is that the solution to everything?

As for the sound quality, i really like the built in speakers.

I was impressed with the quality of the digital output even with old records that have scratches and pops.

The sensitivity of the "automatic split tracks" is not very reliable.

Price

Great record player for the price can't go wrong

Haven't had time to try it out yet, but this is exactly what i was looking for, at a very good price.

Not a bad little turntable for the price.

Packaging/appearance

I just wish it came with a dust cover.

Competitiveness

I agree with some of the other reviewers that the audio software included is horrible, but i downloaded audacity and it works well.
