Pros & Cons
Pros
Inches tall. The shelf fits nicely in the space in my bathroom, the dimensions are correct, and the color was better than i imagined. It's a practical particleboard shelf that fits small spaces and holds plenty of stuff.
It's sturdy and easy to make even with just a handheld screwdriver. Each shelf has two screws, and there are four on both sides of the top and bottom. The back panels each have two pegs to hammer in, and two screws.
Cons
The left rear support part for the second bookcase has a split in it. This makes the shelf look like it has chickenpox. This storage shelf is mediocre at best.
The openings for the screws are recessed and there is nothing to cap them with. Predrilled holes aren't straight. Even with the screw covers, it looks sloppy. Of them, they fall out onto the floor, even though i tapped them in with a hammer.
The instructions might as well have been written in crayon. Missing all hardware and only received 2 of the 3 small back pieces. It's in the attic, waiting for the day when someone else can try to put it together.
It is not wood; it is particle board. Cutting particle board can release formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide in the case of amino resins. Formaldehyde is classified by the who as a known human carcinogen.
Highlights
Quality
It has heft to it, making it nice and sturdy.
The quality of the shelf is great and it was easy to install.
The product description indicates wood, but it is actually particle board with laminate coating.
None of the parts are labeled making it difficult to figure out which holes in which piece one should use.
Price
And the price was affordable and well worth it.
I would say this shelf was a very good choice and the price was excellent.
For the standard price of 40-50$ its decent.
But on sale for 25 bucks its excellent and a great value.
Packaging/appearance
It was easy to put together (i used a cordless power drill and had it assembled in less than 10 minutes, but it would also be p... Read More
There were no instructions in the box, but a picture on the outside that my husband used to assemble it.
Competitiveness
If you think you'll do that frequently, a different shelf may be better.
