Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

I have some thick fingers that sometime make holding small screws and nuts in place long enough to screw them when assembling items. This tool is the 4ln, meaning it is 4 inches long.

This is a light duty tool meant for tightly gripping things that you would otherwise have trouble holding with small pair of needlenose pliers. The alignment on the pair that i got is pretty good and i am satisfied that they flex back into their origi...  Read More

Cons

The jaws are misaligned. They fail whenever you need to grip something straight on, in a twisting motion, they slip off the nut. The leg of the moving jaw comes out just by moving the handles.

All of the irwin pseudo-vice-grips cannot be compared to the original made by petersen manufacturing (in the '80s) even the stamped product name is ugly.

It was made too tight. Had to bent apart to use. There was a lot of rust internally of it. The mechanism had been rusted shut due to poor storage conditions.

It is advertised as 4. There is nothing about it that is 4! It is smaller than i expected it to be, kind of flimsy. These are tiny, not the size i was expecting.

These pliers are absolutely awful. They almost belong in a toybox not a toolbox. Despite oiling and keeping in a tool box, these pliers rust easily.

Quality

These remind me more of the build quality i would see from my petersen dewitt tools.

Worth every penny again exceedes expectations in function and build quality.

Great vise-grip quality, just very very small.

I would not recommend if you are looking for professional high quality tools… then again, i hope you wouldn’t be looking for hi...  Read More

Price

Price was right and works just like the larger versions.

Competitiveness

Had a fix that required needle-nose vise grips - this did the trick.

They are small which is a weird thing to see people in reviews complain about

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

However with some of the other reviews i think its important to note who this is for

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

So they are a bit small for large hands and the smooth highquality finish will slip in your hand a bit

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Certainly not something you want to work with all day in a shop environment

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Theres a hex hole on the bolt to let you really clamp down on things but at this size i dont think that is something most people will use often

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The tasks these excel at dont require that level of grip

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Because of their size the jaws also arent going to accommodate nearly as much as their larger counterparts

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

You certainly wont be clamping onto plumbing pipes
