Pros
Everything is well built with metal cases. Heck, this unit is surprisingly compact. I only wish that it had level controls or at least a 10db pad. Solved our problems.
Cons
The video is incredibly unstable and choppy. Video output has no audio at all with mic #1 and is barely audible with mic#2.

You will probably get objectionable noise if you fiddle with the box with volume up.
I think this should be made clearer in the product description.

At this price level it seems appropriate.

I've got the audio coming out of the soundcraft via aes/ebu xlr cables into a hosa aes to s/pdif optical converter.
Competitiveness
I used it in conjunction with a j-tech hdmi audio stripper to access the original audio.
I used this to embed a modified audio stream into the hdmi feed of a cinema projector in a commercial movie theater with a 100ft screen.

Ill give it a good review but know this as several have pointed out if there is no video on the hdmi input to this it will insert audio and it will not put out audio on the hdmi out connector

I think most people who would need something like this know that a microphone level input is much lower in voltage than a line level signal which there was no sound using it like this

I verified by several means that there was no existing audio signal over the hdmi cable

I need to take audio from an hdmi recorder which records audio to channels 3 and 4 and put the audio into channels 1 and 2 on the hdmi output

The audio stripper was run into a mixer and the output of the mixer went to the embedder

The hdmi video was passed from the source device to the stripper then to the embedder then to the projector
