Humble beginnings where few had success due to their station in life, james cook has an indelible imprint on history. Interesting to read cooks equipping his ships with goods for a healthy voyage.

Lots of questions were left unanswered like no mention of islands being volcanic or lava material

In the 3rd exploration and toward the end of his life we cant help but see that cook was a flawed human being and yet his actions in the end were so out of character for him that one has to speculate as to whether or not there were underlying reasons that cook had no control over

This book although the writing style is a tad undergraduate covers much of his exploration his genius in bringing his crews back alive his unique relationship style with indigenous people and sadly his mental collapse into cruelty snd sloppiness that made his last voyage a failure
