    I tried both types when making baked goods especially meringue cookies and while they bring the same qualities to baking as sugar adding moisture to cakes and cookies as well as crispness to meringue they do have an almost mintlike coolness effect which can seem out of place in certain types of baked goods if it is used as the primary or only sweetener
