The item was not as advertised and thus not usable for the specific application ge45612 is a dimmer not requiring a n wire which makes it a great choice for retrofits into older installations
It basically works just like any other smart switch that requires a neutral however my review is based off of incandescent lights supposedly cf and led do not play well with switches lacking a neutral but i did not test that
