Pros

It takes up far less space than the previous clock radio, puts out great sound, and has a lightning dock. But what wows me the most is the sound that comes out of it.

It's sleek and compact. Excellent customer service - esp for a routine sale.

It works with both my newer ipod nano 7th generation and also my old ipod touch 2nd gen. I have it plugged in but it also works on 4 aaa batteries (i haven't tried this yet) it works for what we use it for - docking and charging and playing music whil...  Read More

Cons

Jbl onbeat still owns iphone's audio output, so you cannot hear any sounds that may come later. This newer unit shuts off and does not wake up when iphone 5 starts playing.

The quality of the charger piece is not good quality. The lightening connector is not well made. The speaker rattle makes it unusable for my 7th generation nano.

The dock switches itself off after a few minutes of inactivity. Even while plugged in, it goes into a sleep mode and never comes out. Not on standby like the predecessor, no.

Quality

I'm a bit of an audiophile and am impressed with the quality of the sound across the spectrum - bass to treble.

Nothing fancy but the sound quality is great.

The sound is awful and the remote control didn't work with the ipod and broke after 6 months with the features it did work with.

If i'm not happy with the station, i bery easily drown out that bs with whatever i feel like hearing.

Packaging/appearance

If you don't mind your phone lying next to the the dock.

Competitiveness

I have an ipod 4 and have a sony speaker station at twice the price of this one.

Too bad this has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Except for two things 1 i wish i could also put my much older original ipod on it the connector on the jbl wont allow it and theres no adaptor and 2 i wish there were a remote for this unit so i could raise or lower the sound without running across the room to adjust it manually
