Pros & Cons
Pros
The studio 500's series are a total game changer in sound quality. I also like how the mid-range doesn't shout at you like some other speakers. I really appreciate how the tweeter always remains uncovered whether they are used with or without grills.
Midrange is pure and smooth. Smoothness and pace belie their under $500 price. It's tight and precise but has a force behind it that makes you feel like you are dealing with a contained volcanoe ready to erupt but mostly just oozes melodious lava.
These speakers are a bargain. In the audiophile community inexpensive means less than a thousand dollars a pair. At regular $599 a pair, these speakers are worth every penny.
The sound is phenomenal. Huge soundstage and imaging is fantastic. The ambience is great.
These are excellent sounding speakers. I have tried quad pioneer martin logan bose boston acoustic they are all good speakers.

Shipping
I received these a few weeks ago and they are taking up all of my free time.
One of the speakers arrived with a damaged corner, but amazon quickly took care of it.
Packaging/appearance
A 2nd surprise is the weight distribution, the horn driver is heavier than the woofer, and the speakers are packaged upside dow... Read More
They look far nicer in person than pictures show.
Competitiveness
Better than the technic system, bose and denon set up, and many i have heard at store sound rooms.
My old onkyo a-8200 (60 wpc) could drive them, but i got much better results with my yamaha r-s700 (100 wpc).
No, it is not a brand name, just another chinese made purchased on ebay.
Omg - i have never heard better $600 speakers than these.
