Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

The recipes are familiar but unusual enough and the author provides ample variations, enough to be intriguing. Has amazing recipes and tells tales behind them. A new take on classic family classics.

This provides a variety of ashkenazi, persian, and iraqi jewish recipes of moderate difficulty for the secular jew or the curious gentile.

Written joyfully, with clear directions. Not complicated at all, nor intimidating. His writing is also super clear (and funny).

Cons

The ish would be better pronounced ich. The photos are sickeningly warm and studded with flash. Layout and design also suffer and deepen the feeling of cheapness. The book's saving grace is the author's kitsch and charm.

Packaging/appearance

The books were just thrown into a box with no wrapping.

These books came without any exterior wrapping and the covers were really dirty (and the book cover edges as well).

I haven’t tried all the recipes, but they look yummy.

Competitiveness
