Pros & Cons
Pros
Joby gorilla pods are almost an extension of the camera. Works great for canon 5d with 70-200mm 2. And fujifilm x30. The entire unit is compact enough to fit in a backpack and it's not heavy.
As i said the title it is worth every penny. Great product. Pictures come out great.
The focus ballhead will 360 pan and locking tilt is much improved. The quick release plate is easy to use and the head locks up very solid. The ballhead is also fantastic and i'm using it with my main tripod.
Cons
After juggling with the legs for several minutes to bring the center of gravity in place, the camera balances in a delicate position. Also the feet are pretty slippery, so it needs to be on a rougher surface.
The problem with this gadget is the hand strenght needed to get it to wrap around anything. This gorilla pod takes gorilla strength to handle and a female hand can not do it. The issue is this is not a reliable tri-pod for anything over a few pounds.
The gorillapod collapses under the canon's weight. This item was marketed and listed as being able to support a camera like a canon 70d. There are scratches to the eyepiece rubber which makes using the sony's evf uncomfortable.
Highlights
Quality
Strong, durable and great for the content creators (video or photog)
It’s also very sturdy and perfect for setting up a shot!
I used a similar size full metal version 10+ years ago and had been happily abused it for years till its rubber rings peeling off.
Any gorillapod below this one doesn't work well at all for dslrs under the 80d/70d.
Price
At the sale price of $50, this is a great deal.
As i said the title it is worth every penny.
I can't believed i paid over 60 dollars for this.
Using it with a $20 benro ballhead i already have as opposed to buying the full kit.
Shipping
Vendor shipped on time and fast delivery.
It was shipped quickly and is exactly as described!
Packaging/appearance
All i can say is wow after opening the package.
Competitiveness
The only disadvantage is it's a bit difficult to get it back to straight position, but it's really not a big deal.
I will say that the top mount that works best with this for me is the manfrotto (498 head).
