Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

The 36 jorgensen bar * offer ease of use, great clamping pressure, and heavy-duty construction. They seem to work with a different mechanism than the bessey and ehoma *. These adjust much smoother and they seem less susceptible to glue/gunk gumming up...  Read More

Cons

The tag that comes with the new * states that they have a limited lifetime warranty. That tells me these are a knockoff. The original jorgensens were great *—these made in china models are complete junk.

The clamp jaws are not a single piece. This translates to significantly less clamping power. They are not parallel and do not clamp evenly.

The threaded rod binds before the clamp is tightly set. The jaw just continues to slide until it runs out of clamping room against the stop. Either way, not good. Jammed in fully closed position.

One of the boars was bowed a bit but these clamps clamped them together and held them straight until the glue dried

Over the last 12 months i purchased 56 cabinet master parallel jaw clamps ranging in size from 18 inches to six feet

Overall i find these jorgensen parallel clamps useful for many clamping situations but inadequate or frustrating to use in other situations

Other brands of parallel jaw clamps may have similar problem scenarios as these clamps

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

On a few occasions during glue ups i have had to remove a jorgensen parallel jaw clamp and replace it with a 20 to 30 year old jorgensen steel ibar clamp or an equally old pony ¾” pipe clamp when the parallel jaw clamp’s screw refused to turn far enough to draw a mortise and tendon joint together refused to close the gaps in a tight tolerance ¼ ¼ ¼ drawer box or the jaws moved beyond parallel once a joint was fully closed
