Either one side or both sides can be inflated to have 2 people on the bed and each side with different air pressure.
The best feature i like about this air bed is that it is essentially 2 air beds joined together by a soft cloth cover on the top.

Theyre joined by a cloth at the top but each side is a separate air pocket so you dont have to fill the entire thing

The mattress itself is firm and appears to be a thick material that will not pierce easily
