This cup holder extender/expander does the job. The parking brake and gear shift are unimpeded. One thing i question are the 2 mounting screws on the top of the cup holder.

I put a full unopened 42 oz coke bottle in and it flops around enough that i would be concerned if going over a slightly rough road and know it would go flying if i hit the brakes hard

It is about 13 shallower than the subaru drink holder
