Pros & Cons
Pros
We use this on the top bunk that doubles as a cabinet. Bottom keeps my dog from opening the door!
Cons
Black greasy dust that gets all over the metal plate, then all over your hands or clothes inside the drawer. Pic 1 shows the screws that were provided sticking up so high beyond the plate that the magnet cannot fully make contact with the plate. I rec... Read More
Highlights
Quality
I am very happy with the reslults.
These are nice looking good quality pieces.
As others have mentioned, the included screws sit slightly proud of the plate, but this does not interfere with the magnet latching.
The doors open easily with the knobs, but the they are strong enough that the cats cannot get them open by digging with their paws.
Packaging/appearance
It's got a bit stronger hold and the metal, i hope, will last longer the the original plastic.
I initially installed the 20lb catches made by the same company, but they are too wimpy.
Our cabinet doors are white laminate over fiberboard.
Competitiveness
works great for a smal screen door.
One not so bad so i could have used a 20lb latch but the other was bowed out about a half inch at the bottom.
These 40lb door catches have just enough force to keep the drawers shut.
It is stronger than necessary, but i didn't want to take chances on a smaller 20lb magnet.

If you install them on a medium weight kitchen cabinet and the plate is aligned to come in full contact with the magnetized bars the bars that enclose the magnet and direct the magnetic force to the plate on the door then youre likely to find 40 lbs too strong

If theres an air gap between the plate and the bars then 40 lbs is fine

If the plate is misaligned 40 lbs is probably fine

They are not solid wood but they are reasonably heavy

In one case the pull is too strong

As it happens i need to add bumpers to that cabinet door so they might be ok once ive done that

Otherwise i need weaker magnets

Edit the bumpers were not enough and the cabinet frame isnt thick enough to move the magnet any further from the plate
