Pros
It's like a warm squishy water bed for small animals. The seams look very sturdy and it is made of neoprene.
Easy and fast to heat. More comfortable to snuggle up to. As it cools it turns to gel and then hard as it gets even cooler. Even when its hard its still has warmth for awhile.
Cons

I have used many k&h products and all are well made and well used!
They clean easy, are extremely durable, and our cats give them a 5 star rating!
Once you find the right timing for your microwave the heat is even and slowly diminishes over a period of hours vs.
This "pad" is only thin padding on the outside fabric.
Price
The price is definitely still very worth the expense.
Was skeptical because of the price, and having tried a few lower priced ones, this clearly outperforms.

I never thought that i would be spending $40 on a heating pad, let alone buying a second but here i am and i have no regrets.

I also had another name brand of microwavable disc purchased about 15 years earlier for the same purpose.
The other brand appears to use some sort of plastic or rubber, which would not absorb any of the wax if a leak were to occur.

I had to replace the initial kh gel pack i bought when i took it into our clinic to have additional portable heat sources when we were doing an emergency csection expecting 810 pups

Then my gel pack disappeared versus the initial kh pack i had i think this replacement product doesnt stay warm as long and it seems the gel is harder when cooled
