Pros
Float or submerged. We use a 750 gal unit (submerged) in each 110 gallon tank. This is the first pond heater i have purchased in years. Normally i have air stones which keeps the ice thin enough that i can poke holes easily for air exchange.
K&h pet products ultimate stock tank deicers are on sale for $99. This is the best * heater i've ever tried and i've tried a couple. Even if i need a new one every year, it's worth it not to lose quality fish.
Cons
The cage around the heater coil is red plastic. Trough was frozen today. Heater trips breaker and will not work.
Burnt out in less than a month and there is no response from the company. They just randomly fail. Will be calling tech support to troubleshoot or for replacement.

I purchased this stock tank heater a few months ago and have been very pleased with its heating element in extremely cold below 0° temps!
We have followed the manufactures weather guidelines for choosing the size and have been happy with the results.

I would guess it costs more to keep them at this temperature but if they drink more, it’s worth it.
