Out of the box i would recommend you plug in and hold the reset bottom most button until all leds turn off and unit reboots

Why firstly if unit was setup for a wifi ssid previously it wont be using the default unsecured ssid for letting you get setup

Another issue that came up was with the kasa smartplug built in to extender it would allow local network control through the kasa app but not remotecloud control through alexa
