Drag feels strong on it. Braking system feels great on it also. All of mine are smooth retrievers with minimal noise. That magnetic brake is a beast!

Well worth the money in my professional unprofessional opinion. Nothing better. Totally worth every penny. I haven't cracked up the case yet to see if they use cheap parts.

The reel flips good and casts excellent. Casts very smoothly and is built really well.

Cons

Never buy this reel. I like to palm my reel when i fish and whenever i hook into a fish, my hand puts pressure on the plastic body of the reel and distorts it. I have the perigee 2 mh rod which i have 0 complaints about but this reel is pretty junk.

The brake system is bad, like non existing. The paint holds all dirt and is impossible to clean. The drive gear and the “w-pinion gear” are junk.

The reel doesn't retrieve line when spinning the handle. I have to move the spool back and forth so it can engage the spools. Noise when casting.

The issue is that the handle grips are splitting at the seam on 3 out of 4.

Kastking has been a great value reel for me my past couple of purchases

Great value for this reel, i have fished both fresh and saltwater with this reel and it can really put up a fight.

Not worth full price, get while on sale.

If you are looking for a well priced reel to get you started, or a quality reel to improve your casting, give this one a chance!

Competitiveness

All fishermen have preferences, but i like these as much as a lew's speed spool.

My other baitcaster is a shimano slx and at half the price this reel is close being my favorite.

Haven't gotten to use this one yet but the weather is getting better and it won't be long.

Imo these our the best budget reels out there, and the best budget reels kastking has turned out.
