I took this pack out to the mountain and was able to fit all that i needed for four people into the pack.

The pack comes with an adjustable waist band, which slides up/down the metal bracings of the pack.

Competitiveness

For the price (compared to bags at rei) it as worth the money.

Overall, i am happy with this kelty catalyst 50l backpack.

By the way, reviewers mentioning the day pack are likely referring to the larger 65l or 80l version.

The 50l version (at least the one i got) does not come with a day pack.
