Pros & Cons
Pros
Great updated version of a classic design. These things last forever. I only wish it came in a darker color.
Rugged, durable, dependable quality. The adjustable waistbelt balances out the load. The hipbelt is slightly too big.
Used it at philmont for 85 mile hike. Backpack feels durable and is quite comfortable. The only drawback is that the backpack is a little noisy.
I wish that there was a long pocket on one side like the tioga and that the main compartment divider was adjustable. The hydration bladder pocket is a great update.
Trekker is a nice balance between payload size and adjust-ability. Is very adjustable and is a quality build. Most versatile style of pack.
Highlights
Quality
Is very adjustable and is a quality build.
It is very well made and just as advertised.
This is vital when working in the backcountry, and convenient for carrying tools in the frontcountry.
There is a pocket for a hydration bladder and two holes on each side for the tubing that attaches.
Price
It seems to be the best available external now for the money.
This trekker 65 rates at the top in terms of quality and flexibility.
Dug around a little online and found this exact pack for 80 dollars less after coupons and sign up discounts.
I think kelty owes me some back pay!

I like the external pockets, it’s makes packing the heavily used items in easy access pockets.

Competitiveness
From a weight perspective, this is competitive with internal frames.
This pack is far better than i ever thought it could be by looking at the photograph on amazon.
In conclusion, you can't really do better than this pack for corps work.
I think if you compare this to an internal frame that can carry as much gear it may be competitive on weight.
