Pros & Cons
Pros
The coating they used on this blade is awesome. It's a glossy dark gray unlike one i've seen before in any other knife. The size is great for my pants pocket.
The clip spring is strong and can be adjusted to left or right side carry with the blade up or down using a t6 torx screwdriver. My only complaint is that i don't like a belt clip.
Light weight makes the knife well suited to carrying in a purse, backpack, and fanny pack. If you're thinking about a simple pocketknife and haven't had one before, this is certainly the one to get. The flipper has smoothed out a lot- instant open eve... Read More
Buy it and get over your need to carry an expensive and oversized knife for your edc. This little knife is has the 3 features i was looking for in a edc knife for me. Replaced my lost edc knife, an old gerber.
Cons
The knife is very difficult to open even after i loosened the screw and lubricated it. The blade is way off center resting to the side. Tossed it into a drawer.
Chinese quality control is non existent. I'm a fan of kershaw in general, it just looks like i got a dud. Very disappointed in kershaw and rick hinderer.
Highlights
Quality
It is solid gives great control without needing to be treated delicately.
The clip size and spring strength makes the knife well suited to clip onto a plate carrier vest without worry of the knife falling off.
The blade is shaving sharp right out of the box.
One finger press on opener and it springs firmly open.
Price
Highly recommended as a low cost starter knife for anyone new to everyday carry.
It' size makes it almost invisible deep clipped into my pocket, and the price cannot be beat!
To check my carry-on would cost $30, to replace the knife cost under 20.
Nice knife for the price does the job.
Packaging/appearance
This knife is the perfect size for quick cuts like packing tape on boxes.
It’s also more than sufficient for package opening and keeps tape residue off my actual edc.
Competitiveness
The ember is a quality knife, but the chive does feel like it costs more than the ember.
It's just slightly thicker than the chive, which makes it easier to manipulate.
