Full disclosure in my setup this is by no means my main computer and the amount of keyboard use i would say is low at this point

The transmitter wasnt in the keyboard battery compartment rather it was in the mouse battery compartment

At first i was hesitant since its not bluetooth but honestly the wireless connection is much better and it kicks in instantly when i switch between machines i had to pair everytime when i was using a bluetooth keyboard
