Pros

The charge lasts a looooong time, closing the cover locks the device as opening unlocks and i love that. Compared to the ipad mini which had to be charged every day.

Can't rec this more highly. I love that it makes scrolling the kindle library easy and the display is perfect! If you are getting a kindle, it makes more sense to bundle it because otherwise you will wind up paying much more.

Instant library at my fingertips. Carrying many books around is as easy as slipping the unit into the carry-on backpack/briefcase/whatever.

The backlight is perfect - it seems to adjust to the ambient lighting a bit. The screen and lighting is nice and soft to look at, compared to my glaring phone screen. Love the backlighting and ability to adjust that.

The paperwhite screen is a game changer if you like to read outside. It's perfect and i'm a very happy bookworm. I love that i can make notes, look up definitions, share with others my highlights and it connects with good reads.

Cons

Software design was outsourced to an incompetent 3rd party. Unusable for anything other than a flickering nightlight.

I enjoy reading on it and the convenience of purchasing books on amazon but it’s not worth it for a completely unreasonable lifespan. I’m switching to kobo since i have several friends who have been using theirs for 6-7 years.
