The other ones were large and the ring fell off and got lost so they were permanently splayed and theyd get caught on the rack in my dishwasher and drive me nuts

Im getting used to the silicon instead of metal and while i miss that clack clack of my metal tongs these are so far much easier to clean as food doesnt seem to stick to the edges as stubbornly as it did to the old metal ones
