Pros & Cons

Pros

The kitchenaid has a sleeker, modern look than the lodge. This kitchenaid dutch oven is very heavy duty and high quality.

There is a little unevenness, however that is not a pot problem, rather my stove problem, i get that same spot with all cookery. The dimples actually work for the controlled dripping of the condensed steam back into the food!

The only down side is the heaviness of course but that is just part of the process with cast iron. It is a bit heavy, but that hasn't bothered me. It will last you a lifetime it taken care of properly.

The size is good, and i like the styling, but i won't be able to use this pan for cooking as of yet - because all that is available to me right now is glass top and induction/ceramic.

It seems a little overpriced to some, but this will be the last one i buy. Clean up is a snap. The value for the price is off the charts.

Cons

It also doesn't have a proper silicone holder.

Quality

Having used this many times, i rate the quality of this pot to be equal to those of my lodge items.

If you know how to use cast iron, this one from kitchen aid comes very close to the quality of lodge.

I say this because when i’m washing this… it never feels secure in my hand with the flat handle and water going.

Price

The value for the price is off the charts and i would absolutely purchase again (although this thing is so well made, i can't i...  Read More

I think if they knock the price down a bit it will be a better value.

And as others have commented, the price may be high for the actual usefulness you're getting (or rather, not getting).

Packaging/appearance

Thankfully my friend knew what to do and was able to remove the rust and season it properly.

It has a very flat bottom even though it is heavy

Usually they have great products but i think this misses the mark in terms of versatilityusability on all stoves

The ad copy says its 34safe to use on all cooktops34

It is probably inadvertent but i think that is misleading

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I think they mean that the pan wont be harmed by various cook tops and not that the pan wont harm certain types of cooktops

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The casting on the bottom is very rough to the point that it would scratch a glass top stove or induction and im not referring to someone sliding it from one burner to the other but rather those little movements that we do while cooking when you grab the handle and reposition the pan to get a utensil under something or to add ingredients
