Pros & Cons

Pros

We are very pleased with this device. The cleaning tools provided with the unit are great. Easy to use, safe, a pain to clean but they all are.

Kitchenaid grinder is a very useful attachment for a kitchenaid mixer. This one is perfect for grinding up veggies for canning or large batch church social veggie and fruit dishes. It is worth the investment, especially if you like to eat ground meats...  Read More

Cons

I doubt it's harmful but the thought of contamination is disturbing. It seems to be made from the same molding. Cutting parts that should be made of metal with close tolerances instead made of plastic that flexes.

Meat pusher is too small a diameter compared to the tube and you cannot push the meat into the feeder. The auger plugs up quickly prior to finishing a single 7 qt canner load.

In use it wobbles and falls off. This does a mediocre job grinding, the blade gets jammed and then has to be disassembled to keep using it. There’s actually no bearings or anything inside the grinder that can leak.

Not kitchenaid. It appears that attaching this too tightly to the mixer will cause this problem.

I have never seen any metal shavings or anything in the finished product.

I always like to add a little bleach to the water (cool) and do an initial breakdown and dispose of unground by product.

Shipping

Don't rush it as it only grinds just so fast and use a lower speed on the kitchen aid mixer for best results.

Competitiveness

I grpund meats instead purchasing at the market.
