Pros

Quiet, 3 stage grind, 7 year in home warranty. Newer model is taller than the older model and has a new design stopper. One side of the stopper is for turning the unit on & off. It is quiet, though.

Removal of the old unit and this one in place was less than an hour with simple hand tools.

Price

Be sure to buy the extension, about $50 from kitchen aid, if your sink is more than 3/4'' thick.

I figure if i can get 10 years out of an electrical device, i'm doing great despite the hefty price.

Shipping

My only quibble with the process is that i had to purchase it through a third party so my purchase wasn't eligible for free shipping.

This came in as expected and the installation was relatively quick (my son-in-law installed it for me).

Competitiveness

It appears to be the same as the insinkerator excel 1hp model, with the difference being that it's batch feed vs continuous feed.

Unit is sleeker and much more quite than the older model.
