Finally i realized that it is possible to secure the cover without it being in the correct position

There is a very subtle notch on the cover that must slide into the handle or the processor will not turn on

I would have given this 5 stars except for the lack of explanation for this positioning of the lid and the heavy pressure required for the processing buttons too much pressure in my opinion

I suspect a lot of the reviews from consumers referring to machines that wouldnt work had some trouble adjusting to the various safety features that must lock into place before the machine will run
