Pros & Cons
Pros
It toasts evenly and has numerous toasting levels. The bagel setting is very handy to get more browning on the insides of the slices. Other settings, such as defrost, warm, etc.
Kitchenaid kmt223 toaster is stainless steel. Works well and is stylish enough to keep out in remodeled kitchen. Stainless matches my other kitchen appliances.
There are several options * that will tailor the toaster cycle to your need. It looks so sleek. I love the simplicity of the cancel button, as opposed to the push down/pull up levers that tend to be the cause of breaking the lever.
Cons
For the premium $80 price tag, the performance of this unit is a disappointment. The manufacturer's warranty only covers this toaster for 1 year. Needless to say, i am very disappointed that after spending more than $75 for a toaster, that it would fa... Read More
The bread in either slot toasts too much on the side facing the center. It burns one side of the toast while barely toasting the other. The motorized slot lifts quit working after one week.
Toaster has an ear piercing beep when you first press the button. There is no way to turn off the buzzer.

This is a great toaster and works really well.
Push button technology, the shade of your food item is adjusted from a 1 to 6 on the led display.
The crumbs:i ran 4 test cycles at various heat levels and was surprised the new toaster did not give off an obnoxious smell.
Price
Worth paying a bit more for one that works great and has caused us no problems for several years.
It was beyond awful and at a pretty high price point.
My last toaster was $10 and lasted me for 15 plus years.
I did test out a cuisinart toaster purchased at target for $39.
Competitiveness
Compared to the other options, this is the best choice
We have mostly kenmore appliances and kitchenaid countertop appliances.
Setting this toaster on the counter i noticed it was a better quality product than the krups.
This kitchenaid toaster is so much better than the krups #732d i returned.
