Pros & Cons
Pros
Kitchenaid is a must-have machine if you are at all serious about cooking & baking. It’s powerful and dependable. This machine is so versitile. Anyone who thinks it cheaply made is wrong.
Cons
The demise of a formerly great american product. Not the same mixer that made the reputation that keeps * people in. Also makes an annoying clicking sound and it's hard to shut off.
It heats up fast, becoming hot to the touch withing a minute of mixing bread dough. Flour ends up spilling out on to counter, making a mess! A glob of grease the size of a large caterpillar was left in an obvious place on the gear cover.
"the bowl isnt much better. Forget about scrapping the sides. They need to change the written part to raising and lowering the bowl, not the beater! Older model, with the tilt head, gives you much easier access to the bowl.
The kit also includes the shipping cost to return the unit to you. Return to manufacturer. There is no mention of this.
These mixers are made for wannabe cooks. They are an alloy kind of like the cheap jewlery you get from china. The metal housing is flimsy, the lift handle is cheap metal capped with a chintzy plastic grip.
Highlights
Quality
Very well made and powerful, we use it every week and it works great.
I love that it is american made, very strong and sturdy.
None of the attachments reach bottom of mixing bowl, none of them.
It’s loud, even on a slow speed.
Price
I enjoy making breads and cookies and such so i purchased this mixer based on the price (new) and reputation of the mixer.
I shouldn't have to spend more $ for it to work properly.
Amazon support was also a total bummer, they offered me 5 bucks to make up for showing up on her birthday without this gift.
It's a little pricey for the initial investment but totally worth it imo.
Shipping
I didn't receive it until several days after the guaranteed date, which was a drag.
It took 14 days after placing my order (with prime) to receive it and it came with a defect.
Packaging/appearance
Upon opening the box, the mixer itself appeared dirty as did the stainless steel bowl.
Kitchenaid also asked me a bunch of questions on how the items looked as i unpacked them from the box and verified the item app... Read More
The owner's manual shows more attachments than were in the box.
Competitiveness
) overall, i'm curious how much quieter the other model is but i'm not turned off by the noise level, just helps announce to my... Read More
5 qt mixer might be a better choice.
