This machine is so versitile. This is a must-have machine if you are at all serious about cooking & baking.
Cons
Even some of the most positive and glowing reviews admit to a learning curve to work around its deficiencies. I am disgusted that this former reliable brand has sold out to using cheap parts.

I made the upgrade from the 5qt and i could not be happier.
My wife moved up to this model and is extremely happy.
Packaging/appearance
In this version of mixer, the beaters and hook are coated with an easy clean non-stick coating.
Competitiveness
Upgrade to a 6qt from a 4qt kitchen aid love the ability to make large batches.
I highly recommend a 6 quart model.

After using a hand mixer to make many dozens of cookies and bread the hand mixer gave up and died

If youve owned the 5qt tilt head models and hated making bread in them this is probably your solution

You can get some interesting smells when you run it under load for a while but thats pretty normal for electric motors

The 5qts seem to break under load over time and just dont do bread well
