Pros & Cons
Pros
This is a great mixer. It works great for mixing lots of dough, and i love the slow start feature. I prefer the lift-stand to the tilt-head because everything seems much more stable.
The matte silver color of my unit has a very timeless classic look. I know what goes into my chopped meat, who chopped it and how fresh. Highly recommend the 5qt machines.
Cons
Kitchenaid is a great brand but my mixer started shorting out within a month of use. I had a 30 year old hobart made kitchen-aid mixer which i loved, this one is a piece of *. The beater misses the edge of the bowl by at least a 1/4 of an inch.
Spent 30 minutes troubleshooting to no avail. Obviously a flaw in their design. Adjustment screw seems to have no affect at all.
This appliance is not able to knead even this much dough. It makes a straining sound at half capacity on the lowest speeds as recommended. The dough hook started moving erratically in regards to speed.
Very aggravating to use. Anyway, buyer beware.
Highlights
Quality
The build quality is very heavy and industrial and the matte silver color of my unit has a very timeless classic look.
Moreover, you will not go wrong with the grinder attachment.
With the old hook, dough climbed up and was blocked by a plate to keep it from getting into the mechanism.
I had never used one with the lift bowl before, but it is really simple.
Competitiveness
A staple product for every kitchen, love the kitchenaid brand.
