Pros

It toasts evenly on both sides. It has a cute little beep when done!

The empire red toaster is light weight, well made, attractive on my counter and simple to operate. Cord wraps for a clean counter, or storage. The toaster works very well and seems to be good quality.

Cons

Top half of the bread toasts more than the bottom half. The toasting is extremely uneven from top to bottom and from first batch to the next. The settings are meaningless -- the actual settings are (1) minimally warmed and (2) burnt to a crisp.

The toaster has a defective lifter knob. This is the first kitchenaid appliance that has disappointed me. Will not purchase kitchenaid again. Go to walmart and buy the silver toaster for $10.

Put in slices of bread or bagel, plunge lever and minutes later, it beeps at you and delivers toast.

Glad i didn’t waste my money on the cheap one i was considering.

For the price, i feel the engineering is poorly designed.
