It told me definitively the failure i was diagnosing caused the outlet to be pushing 30v from the neutral wire.

I have used the typical outlet tester for years but had a circuit which kept going dead

It has memory so if your outlet has the ground up you can still read the tester when removed and turned back up since the screen is typically readable with the ground down
