Pros & Cons
Pros
Bass is tight, powerful with no distortion. This one is way nicer, way heavier and let me emphasise again that your house may shake when the volume goes up, but the sub does not distort. The bass is deep and crisp with no distortions at all.
This is from the klipsch reference premier line. Movie effects are fantastic. Watching avengers the winter soldier you get a sense that you're actually on a crashing hover carrier thing, it is wild!
This is a great 10 subwoofer that served as a replacement for another make that was past its prime. This is likely do to the mdf plinth that klipsch uses. Its a massing the difference a front firing woofer is to a down firing one.
The lows are very solid and really boom yet do not necessarily vibrate the room, which is great. I have a few reference recordings which i used to demo the velodyne in years gone by and the new unit did great.
Solid and stout in construction and big and clean in sound. Break in is fairly quick and you will find it smooth, clean and punchy. Great speed as well, nice and tight lows.
Cons
The subwoofer still works but that's not the point.
Highlights
Quality
Good sound, quality built, can shake the house!
Excellent subwoofer, i used a subwoofer cable and it doesn't have any noise issues.
In fact, i always get a headache from subs too loud and i realize that was because of the low quality.
The 2 that died, after years of use, had a volume knob.
Price
This is a top dollar sub for a very reasonable price.
Got it $300 off the $550 normal price so i’m officially a genius.
So i paid the $60 to send it back along with a 20% restocking charge.
In fact, i got the cheaper ones for $274.
Shipping
Got two and installed in no time.
The item took a while to be dispatched during black friday sale, but once it was the delivery was very quick.
Packaging/appearance
Was shocked to see it arrive in a slightly busted up box but relieved contents appeared unharmed.
It was a boom thump box - only.
Competitiveness
Also note that this r-110sw is not to be confused with the other r-10sw sub from klipsch.
I auditioned both of these at a local audio brick n' mortar side by side and the r-110sw was much better, more refined than the r-10sw.
Both the polk and klipsch were about the same price.
5 times as much as the r-10sw.
