My installer did the install with a standard (read cheaper mud ring, so it may be a way to save over klipsch branded rings, which are basically just plastic frames of the same quality of generic mus rings)overall it was the most pricey in wall speaker i used in three rooms of a whole home audio installation, but it produces the best sound quality of any of the speakers we used.  Read Less
