Pros

Mercer mayer also has some very nice starting books about little critter that really compliment this story. The authentic photographs of nyc fill the pages with characters drawn and colored into the setting.

Cons

Very disappointed in the quality of the hardback book. It seems like the book is actually more for adults than for kids who won't get the humor. It's not compassion that drives the father, but manipulation clearly shown through the illustrations.
